Ministry Description: I approach Spiritual Direction as a contemplative practice in which the goal is ongoing transformation. I offer spiritual direction in person at my home studio, or over the phone, as well as retreat facilitation. My studio is a restful, inspiring space with access to art supplies, books, and hiking trails. Personal day retreats can be arranged as led or self-led. Regular seasonal retreats are offered with my colleague Beth Woelk. My spirituality is rooted in the Anabaptist (Mennonite) perspective of the Christian Faith but is enriched by many spiritual traditions. I welcome directees of all spiritual persuasions and strive to create a safe, open place for exploring one's spiritual journey.
Background: Laura is in current MA studies at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary for Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy. She is a trained spiritual director through the Haden Institute (2012) and has a BTh from Canadian Mennonite University (1995). Formative experiences in her spiritual journey include mothering her three children; living/working/worshiping at the Iona Community, Scotland (1996); 2 years of voluntary service with Jesus Village Church in South Korea (1996-98); and being a part of the leadership team that started Quest Christian Community, St. Catharines, ON (2007-present). |
